CHRISTMAS IN HISTORIC HAMPSHIRE COUNTY 2017

December 1st, 2017 – January 1st, 2018

5th Annual Festival of Lights at Central Hampshire Park, Augusta, from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm, 150 displays with a Musical display that plays to 4 different songs.

December 1st

Songs & Lights in Capon Bridge – Events start at 5:30 pm at the Capon Bridge Library Lighting of the Tree & River House Chorus will lead singing carols.  Then participants can go to The River House to make holiday crafts.

December 2nd

Parade in Paw Paw at 4:30 followed by lighting of the “Lights of Love Tree” and refreshments will be served at the United Methodist Church.

“The Christmas Gift” Annual concert starts at 6:30 pm at the Romney’s First Baptists Church, 325 W. Main St., Romney.

December 8th

5th Annual Christmas Benefit for the Food Pantry – featuring Rain Crow, 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm, American Legion Post 137, Capon Bridge.  All proceeds from the event goes to stocking the shelves at the community food pantry.
(Snow date – December 9th, 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm).

December 9th

Christmas Shop for Tots – Eastern Building Supply, 496 E. Main St., Romney; 304.822.3576

9:00 am – 2:00 pm, There are several items to choose from under $5.00, Price Tag will include tax; gift bags for ‘Tots’ to put their purchase in.  No age limit, adults can find great stocking stuffers.  Goody bags for little shoppers.

Breakfast with Santa – Romney Fire Company, 175 S. High St, Romney; Breakfast begins at 8:00 am – 11:00 am; Cost 2 and under FREE; 3 – 10 $5.00; 11 and up $10.00.  Bring your cameras – pictures are free.

Romney Annual Christmas Parade – line up at 11:00 am at the WV School for the Deaf and Blind on Birch Lane.  The parade will travel down Birch Lane to School St. ending at Romney Elementary School.

Gingerbread House Decorating at Hampshire County Public Library, 153 W. Main St., Romney; 9:00 am – 10:00 am

77th Annual Children’s Christmas Party – FNB Bank, 105 N. High St., Romney, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, FREE  304.822.8700

Bluegrass in the Barn concerts at 6:30 pm at Capon Crossing Farms, Rt 259, Wardensville, Admission is $10.00

December 10th

Fort Mill Ridge Foundation Presents
Starting at 3:00 pm in Taggart Hall Civil War Museum; 91 S. High St., Romney:

Christmas of Old – Fireside chats with local folks talking about Christmas Tradition when they were young.  The tree and decorations will be handmade or from olden times.  Light refreshments will be provided and Open to the Public.

December 14th

Jessica Victoria Ewell, Blind musician, will perform a free holiday concert at the WV Schools for the Deaf and Blind’s Multipurpose Room at 6:00 pm.

December 15th & 16th

Annual Christmas Train, 149 Eagle Drive, Romney, WV 26757 (or GPS Coordinates: 39.36065, -78.75195).
The trip includes cookies, hot cocoa, music, caroling, storytelling, elves and a ‘Very Special Visitor”.
Departure times:  Dec. 15th at 6:00 pm; and Dec 16th at 12:30 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:30 pm.
Tickets: $15.00 to purchase contact Hampshire Co. Chamber of Commerce, 304.822.7221, Wed – Fri, 11 am – 5 pm until sold out.

December 17th

“Caroling in the Wildwood” at North River Mills United Methodist Church, 8152 Cold Stream Rd., Capon Bridge, WV 26711 / 304.856.2483.  It’s a community sing-along that will break for refreshments at 8:00 pm.

December 30th

Bluegrass in the Barn  New Year’s Event at 6:30 pm at Capon Crossing Farms, 12279 Carpers Pike, Wardensville, WV 268511-540-664-4219;  Admission is $10.00
